J’s Paper Bag — Simple, Elegant, and Nostalgic

Some designs don’t need to shout to stand out. J’s Paper Bag is one of those pieces — a clean, understated leather bag that captures the nostalgic look of a classic brown paper lunch bag. Its roll-down top gives it a familiar silhouette that’s both timeless and elegant, making it a versatile everyday companion.

This bag can be used for almost anything: pack your lunch, carry daily essentials as a purse, or toss in whatever fits for a day out. The charm is in its simplicity — the way it moves, folds, and wrinkles adds character with every use.

Recommended Leather

I used 3–4oz soft temper leather for this project to give the bag plenty of movement and a relaxed, natural look. This choice makes it feel approachable and well-loved right from the start, but you can easily adapt the design with different weights or tempers to change its overall structure and feel.

Design Insight

This bag was designed out of a love for simple, nostalgic objects that still have a touch of class. By keeping the construction minimal, the focus stays on the leather itself — the texture, the way it rolls down, and the way it ages beautifully over time.
