Our Story
I started OA Leather Supply on March 12, 2017 with no formal background in the leather industry—just a strong desire to learn and build something meaningful. Like many makers, I taught myself leatherworking through trial, error, and countless hours watching online resources such as YouTube. As I learned, one problem kept coming up over and over again: getting the right leather in the right size was unnecessarily difficult.
At the time, most leather was only available in large, fixed sizes, which often meant paying for more material than a project required. Even worse, there were very few accessible online options that made sense for everyday crafters. That frustration sparked an idea—there had to be a better way.
That idea became OA Leather Supply. From the beginning, the goal was simple: make high-quality leather more accessible, more flexible, and more fairly priced for makers of all levels. Today, OA Leather Supply has grown into the largest leathercraft community on social media in the world and one of the leading leather and leathercraft supply companies in North America—but those original values remain the same.
As we grew, our focus expanded beyond accessibility into something even more exciting—rare and unique leathers you simply couldn’t find anywhere else. Today, we specialize in sourcing some of the most distinctive and hard-to-find leathers in the world, giving makers access to materials that set their work apart. Building on that passion, we also started the first all-rare leather live auction house, creating a new way for the community to discover, compete for, and secure truly one-of-a-kind hides in real time.
At OA Leather Supply (OA stands for Oakson Authentic), we focus on sourcing premium materials while offering options that actually work for real projects. We believe makers deserve choice, which is why we offer our hides in custom size ranges based on square footage. Whether you need a Full Side, Half Side, or Quarter Side, you only pay for what you need. If a hide is listed at 20 square feet, a Half Side delivers approximately 10 square feet, and so on—simple, transparent, and practical.
