Classic Duffel — Vintage Simplicity, Built to Last

The Classic Duffel is one of the first bags I ever made. At the time, my skills were still developing, so I set out to design something simple and approachable — a bag that was easy to make but still carried a timeless, vintage charm.

The design is a clean rectangular shape with a fold-over closure and no zippers or extra complications. That simplicity gives it both a practical and classic look, making it perfect as a weekender, gym bag, or everyday carry-all.

Recommended Leather

I used 5–6oz regular temper leather for this duffel. The added substance of the leather gives it a solid, structured feel without making it difficult to work with. Over time, it develops a rich patina, enhancing that old-school appeal.

Design Insight

This project is special to me because it represents the starting point of my bag-making journey. I wanted to make something straightforward yet beautiful — a design that anyone can make and put their own twist on.
