The Laptop Folio is one of those projects that proves simple can still be striking. It’s quick to make, easy to build, and carries a refined yet rugged appearance that’s perfect for transporting your laptop, documents, or any flat items you want to protect in style.

The design draws inspiration from classic messenger bags and the back pocket lines of well-made Japanese jeans, blending utility with clean, minimal aesthetics. With its all-leather construction, there are no weak points or parts that can wear out over time — just timeless materials built to last.

Recommended Leather

A medium-weight leather such as 4–5oz regular or firm temper works beautifully for this project. It’s strong enough to hold its shape while keeping a clean, elegant profile. You can experiment with different finishes or colors to match your own personal style.

Design Insight

I wanted to create something elegant and efficient — a portfolio that doesn’t rely on zippers, linings, or hardware, just pure leather and good design. It’s a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down, and it’s simple enough for makers at any skill level to tackle confidently.
